What to Look For in a Good Clock Radio
What to Look For in a Good Clock Radio
Most of us have one or more clock radios at home and for many people, these devices have come to be a necessary part of their morning wake up routines. However, no one ever pays much attention to the humble shower or shaving clock radio till it stops ticking for good. It is only at times like these that the importance of the shower or alarm clock radio comes to the fore. The importance of digital clock radios is further underlined by the fact that in spite of the mobile phone doubling up as being both an alarm clock and a radio, the clock radio is still as popular as ever and is in fact getting more popular by the day as more and more people turn towards these appliances to add a little bit of zing to their early morning times spent in the bath room or getting ready for work.
However, some features that you should give due importance to are a good digital display that is visible in the darkness, easy to set alarm functions and a large snooze button. A power back up is also necessary if you live at a place where you run the risk of your alarm not going off due to a disruption in the power supply. Music lovers should go for the option of CD clock radios for their showers. These CD clock radios do not just play what is on the radio waves, but also let you play your favorite CDs and music while you are in the shower. For those who want multifunctionality but are not really fond of CDs, cassette recorder clock radios are a great option. One clock radio design that has us really bowled over is a shower CD clock radio that also serves as a soap and shampoo dispenser for the shower! Talk about one little appliance taking care of all your bathing and entertainment needs.
If you are planning to buy a clock radio for yourself, then it would do you good to remember that while clock radios range from a couple of dollars to more than a hundred dollars price wise, there is an almost proportionate relationship in the amount of features and the quality that a clock radio offers vis vis its price. Deciding what features you really want and what you can live without based on both your budget and your needs is an important pre purchase decision that could end you saving a considerable sum of money.
While we are on the topic of CD alarm clock radios, let me put forward another major advantage of using this device you can wake up with your fave CD playing instead of waking up to an alarm or to the radio. While waking up to the radio is also not a bad idea, people who are picky about their music and the sound quality should definitely go for CD alarm clock or cassette recorder clock radios. Music lovers who want the latest in everything can go for atomic clock radios which combine a radio alarm feature with an atomic clock.
Most of the cheaper varieties of clock radios try to give you a compromise between a clock and a radio. Neither do they have all the features of a good alarm clock, nor do they have the required sound quality that a music lover expects from a radio. However, you might be able to find some that are either very good as radios or are almost perfect alarm clocks in the lower price range. In case you know what you really want, great sound quality with a basic alarm feature or a multifunctional alarm clock with a small noise maker for entertainment, then you can easily buy a satisfactory alarm clock radio without lightening your wallet much.

Customer Review: Just Perfect
After doing the research, we decided on this tv because it fit the bill with the 120 refresh rate, the latest technology with 1080p, etc. It arrived this morning and after maybe 10 minutes of careful unpacking and attaching the pedestal to the screen it was up and running. Our jaws were on the floor at how amazingly beautiful it is. The clarity is stunning and 40 inches turned out to be a good size. Its big enough to appreciate the big game or a blu-ray movie, but not so ostentatious that you can't use it everday for the news and regular programming. We did some shopping around first and Best Buy as of 6/30/08 wanted $1899 for this tv, oh and don't forget to add tax which is 9% here. All said and done we saved close to $400 by purchasing it on Amazon which makes it seem like we got the Playstation 3 that we also ordered for free. All said and done, it is showstopping even when it isn't on. The EnergyStar endorsement is a bonus also considering that larger tvs are notorious energy consumers.
Customer Review: amazing with rabbit ears!
Since we live so close to Mt. Wilson where the major stations have broadcast antennas we thought we would try it with a basic Terk rabbit ear antenna and it is just amazing! Gets over 60 digital channels and even the on-air program guide works to give us a list of what is available at listed hours. Set up was a snap and the clarity is stunning. Sound is very good. Our friends who have cable or satellite don't believe that we get this sort of reception and so many channels without paying a monthly charge. This is our 1st 1080p set and we don't have a blu-ray player yet but that will be next. Wonderful TV set. Highly recommend it.
